The Problem[edit | edit source]

The startling discovery of results before voting by Nalapat and Saraph during the 2009 Lok Sabha Elections in India have sparked off a lot of questions and debate not just about the Indian Elections but about the whole idea of electronic voting. The implications of even a remote possibility of such a scenario are worse than Orwellian.

There are several large questions that need to be addressed by researchers- several researchers across the world have already taken up some of these.

These questions are clearly a clarion call for research in more countries than just India. This research would be a vast project with enormous legacy for the future of mankind and democracy across the world. The methodology will have to be open, inclusive and collaborative. It should be documented in an open and inclusive manner on a wiki such as this one.
