Late Sri Bojja Venkata Reddy was born on 1-7-1932 in a Pulimaddi village of Nandyal mandal, Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh. He was a graduate in Law from Madras University (1952-56) and practiced as an advocate during 1956 to 1958 at Nandyal.

Late Sri Bojja Venkata Reddy has done yeomen service to the nation in general and to the farming community in particular in various capacities, starting his career in public service as Sarpanch of Pulimaddi village, President of Panyam Panchayat Samiti , President of land mortgage Bank ,Nandyal.

As a member of legislative assembly representing Panyam and Nandyal Constituencies took initiative to develop educational facilities, Roads, establishment of sugar factory at Nandyal and spinning mill at Panyam.

As a member of parliament he worked towards the improvement of communication network in Nandyal constituency. While working as a chairman in Nationals Seeds Corporation limited he had showed keen interest to increase production and supply of good quality seed. During his tenure as a chairman, NSC, number of new units were started and NSC turned profitable under his able guidance.

His contribution in waiving of sales tax on seeds in Andhra Pradesh can not be forgotten. His persuasion for establishment of Agricultural College at Mahanandi and to construct Gorukallu Reservoir to stabilise SRBC area is remembered by farming community of the area. He is also responsible for popularising “Narasimha” Cotton variety of ANGRU thru NSC.

His dedicated efforts to disseminate technical knowledge to farmers through farm scientists and technologists have been inspirational to the people working towards the cause of farmers and agriculture.

With a dream to achieve economic and social status to farmers on par with other sectors he was finally laid to rest on 23-10-2002.

In memory of Late Sri Bojja Venkata Reddy and to perpetuate his life long struggle for the upliftment and welfare of farmers and farming community, Bojja Venkata Reddy Agricultural Foundation has been established as a Trust during 2003.
