Baner and Balewadi villages were merged into the Pune Municipal Corporation in the late nineties in order to ensure that they would have "planned" development.

Area Sabha[edit | edit source]

The Area Sabha is a community of stakeholders for the region. It is based on open and inclusive principles. Its mission is to ensure community participation in governance.

Current Issues[edit | edit source]

Current issues of the Baner Balewadi stakeholders include:

  1. Ecological restoration of Devnadi to preserve and enhance the groundwater, help mitigate flood threats and increase the biodiversity
  2. Preservation of the Tukai tekdi and surrounding area as a bio-diversity park and no-construction zone
  3. Completion of roadworks in the Baner Balewadi Area
  4. Implementation of all public projects indicated on the Development Plan
  5. Use of all Amenity spaces in the Baner Balewadi Area for Amenities as decided by the residents of the society from whom the Amenity space was taken by the PMC
