This is an under-construction draft:

Auto-rickshaws, or "riks", are the most-used means of public transport after PMPML buses in Pune. Auto-rickshaw fares in Pune are perhaps the highest in Maharashtra, even higher than anywhere in the country. Despite this fact, auto-rickshaws in Pune provide poor quality of service to the populace. Also, auto-rickshaw unions regularly go on strike for fare-hikes, or against fare-reductions.

Problems faced by auto-rickshaw commuters:

  • Faulty or rigged meters
  • Higher than specified fares
  • Refusal to ply to/between specific destinations
  • Misbehavior by auto-rickshaw drivers
  • Rash driving
  • Strikes to demand unjustified hikes in the fare
